Transition from simple to Standard 2007 Environment
I am trying to transition from a single Exchange 2007 server to a Standard deployment (1 CAS server and 1 Mailbox server). Is there any documentation as far as steps to accomplish this?

I couldn't find any step by step documentation about this but you need to move all mailboxes and PFs (if you have in your environment incase using Outlook 2003 clients) to new mailbox server and verify all the steps normally require to configure while deploying fresh environment and do necessary server for your new server.Finalize Deployment Taskshttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125262.aspxEnd-to-End Scenario Taskshttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124563.aspxAmit Tank | MVP - Exchange | MCITP:EMA MCSA:M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com

Hello. Thanks for the input. I have already put in place a secondary mailbox server and started to move some of the mailboxes over. The main problem that I am having is that I can not connect to the secondary CAS server. When I try to connect, it responds with a 404 error. My layout is the initial 2007 server with all roles installed and mail functioning normally. I then installed the secondary mailbox server and moved some mailboxes over. I can still access those accounts via OWA into the first server. Then I tried to install and configure the secondary CAS server, but it does not seem to be working right.

The best way to do this would be to take the first server and leave it as a mailbox server, deploy the second server as the Hub/CAS role and then remove the H/C role from the first server. The problem you are seeing is likely becuase the Cas server is also on the mailbox server.BP
