Transition from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010 Transition
Hello, I'm working on the transition to Exchange 2010 from Exchange 2007. I'm using only one physical server. The thing is that when I try to install Exchange 2010, the wizard pops up a message saying: "A previous version of Exchange Server is
already installed on this machine". Is it obligatory to use different physical server to do this?
Thanks in advance,

Yes,
You are trying an inplace upgrade from Ex 2007 to Ex2010, which is not supported.
For this you have to prepare another machine and install ex2010 there, and then move all mailbox and public folder data there, also move all OAB generation and distribution there, configure new Ex 2010 CAS server for OWA and outlook, and then verify all
services on new ex2010, and then uninstall old ex 2007.
Hope this help u.
