Tracking database is not available on Exchange 2003 server
I am trying to track any message from Exchange management console message tracking centre. I am getting the following error. Tracking database is not available or the message has left the exchange organisation. We are running exchange 2003 with sp2 on 3 different servers. All three are giving me the same error. I also tried on my own pc cause i have the console installed on my machine - same error. The event log says. Event Type: Error Event Source: MSExchangeIS Event Category: Content Engine Event ID: 12800 Date: 8/16/2010 Time: 1:54:08 PM User: N/A Computer: MS-E-02MAIL Description: Message processing failed because there is not enough available memory (8007000E-82000387). Can you please start by making sure that message tracking is enabled. More information on this can be found here: http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Exchange-2003-Message-Tracking-Logging.html If it is enabled please check the following: Is the Microsoft Exchange Management service running? Is the tracking folder share enabled? Are there any logs in the tracking folder? Is there enough space on the disk where the tracking folder is placed? Another thought, did you just enable tracking or where tracking enabled before the messages you search for was handled? Can you search for any message at all? Have you tried without any filtering at all?Martin Sundstrm | Microsoft Certified Trainer | MCITP: Enterprise Messaging Administrator 2007/2010 | http://msundis.wordpress.com

How long do u keep your tracking logs for? Are you searching a message which is old enough that is not in your logs. you can check the number of days of tracking logs kept for a server on the server properties in the general tab.Thiyagu | MCTS/MCITP - Exchange 2007 | MCSE 2003[Messaging] | http://www.myExchangeWorld.com. Guys Thank you for all your efforts in trying to assist. I have managed to resolve this problem. It was related to Memory Fragmentation which got resolved by Fine Tuning Boot.ini & adding HeapDeCommitFreeBlockThreshold registry entry as per the article in my last email. 291988 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/291988/ ) A description of the 4 GB RAM Tuning feature and the Physical Address Extension parameter 315407 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315407/ ) The "HeapDecommitFreeBlockThreshold" registry key
