Tool to monitor the cache of the Exchange Information Store
Hello Everyone, I am having some problems with one of our Exchange 2003 server. This server is a back-end server running exchange 2003 SP2 on Windows 2003 SP2 R2. The problem I'm having with this server is described in this KB article: In particular, it is said that "When this problem occurs, the cache in the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service reaches the maximum limit of 65,536 entries." I would like to apply the proposed hotfix, but I would like to be sure that my server does have this problem. So Here's my question: Is there a tool that would help me confirm that thecache in the Microsoft Exchange Information Store servicehas reached the maximum limit of 65,536 entries ? I looked at the tools available for Exchange 2003 on the Microsoft Web site and could not figure out if one of them could help me. I don't want to apply the hotfix mentionned in the KB article if my server doesn't have that precise problem. Thanks in advance for your help, it is greatly appreciated. Regards

Hi Amid, Thank you for your suggestion. I did not mentionned it but I did look at this counters and it does seem to be what I am looking for. The numbers shown where not below the "65,536" entries, whichis suppose to be a max number. So I have to conclude that this is not the information I am looking for. Again, Thank you anyway. Hi, I think the cache mentioned in the article is Name Properties cache. I suggest you use following performance counter to check the cache: 1. Enable additional MicrosoftExchangeInformation Store service logging on the Exchangeserver that you need to monitor. For detailed steps about enabling additional MicrosoftExchange Information Store logging, see the Microsoft Knowledge Base article 254606, XADM: How to Enable Additional Information Store Logging. 2. Use Performance Monitor to capture performance counter values. For more information about using Performance Monitor, see Monitoring server performance. Capture the values for the following performance counters: MSExchangeIS Mailbox\Rows in NamedProps Table Note: In the right panel, please select the problem mailbox instead of Total. Mike
