Title field changed in Exchange 2010 SP1, but does not change in Outlook 2007 Global Address List?
I was asked to change the job title of an employee in Outlook four days ago. In the Exchange 2010 EMC under the tab Organization, I changed what was in the Title field. Within minutes, Active Directory on our Domain Controllers also reflected the Title change. In the Outlook 2007 Global address list, the Title has not changed. However, if I look in "All Users" the title has changed. Just not in the Global Address List. I thought maybe accessing the address by sending an email to this user would update my Global Address List, but it did not. What do I need to do to refresh the Global Address List in Outlook 2007 so the Title change is displayed when any employee views the Global Address List. Thank you for any assistance. DDaleS

Couple of possibilities here. One, the client may not be downloading the updates correctly or the server is not generating the new OAB correctly. So let's complete these tests: 1) In Outlook - download the full address book - any errors? 2) Open up th eExchange Management Console, go to Server Configuration - Mailbox and right click on the Exchange server who has the OAB selecting'Manage Diagnostic Logging Properties'. Turn up Diagnostic logging on the Exchange SA service for OAB generation to Maximum. Then go to Organization Config - Mailbox - Offline Address Book, right click on the Deafult Offline Address Book and selelct 'Update'. Check the event logs to see if there were any errors reported in the generation of the OAB. Report back any errors you saw either with the client or server.lJAUCG

Thanks for the quick reply. I don't see an option for OAB generation. The choices under MSExchangeSA are - Clean Mailbox OAL Generator Proxy Generation RPC Calls RPC-HTTP Management These can be set to Lowest, Low, Medium, High, Expert. Without changing MSExchangeSA, I did the Offline Address Book update. Looking in the Eventviewer, it shows that I did the update and said Cmdlet succeeded. I also did the Outlook full address book download - No errors in Outlook. I also notice the two new users I added with new mailboxes on Friday, also are not displayed in the OAB (Global Address List). So it isn't just the edits I make. Thanks. DDaleS

A couple of additional notes- I just configured Outlook on a restaged machine. After pulling down their existing mailbox to restaged machine, the Global Address List is updated. So it would appear that once you have the initial download, then the Global Address List then does not update correctly. I found this link. Pretty much exactly my situation. The user said he resolved it on the last post. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/lv/exchange2010/thread/dcbd7de1-4574-44bb-9909-ee970c219a00 Is step 2 something that can be run during business hours? Or any of these steps. We have Normal Users Mailbox Database, Power Users Mailbox Database. Thanks.DDaleS

For diagnostic logging you want OAL Generator. For the other post, I would just wait til after hours in case there is any load generated or issues caused for the client (restarted service). JAUCG

Hi JAUCG, Regarding the link I posted from the another site, can you explain what step 2 does? step 2: run the following command in EMS-> get-mailbox | set-mailbox -applymandatoryproperties I am educating myself on Powershell commands, but there is a lot to take in. I would like a better understanding of what Step 2 does. Last thing I want to do is bring down Exchange or cause any addtional problems. Once I understand better what it does I will proceed. Thanks much for your help! DDaleS
