Thumbnail photos not showing in GAL or OAB
Running Exchange 2010 SP1 RU4v2. Had run the steps to modify the schema to replicate the ThmbnailPhoto attribute to the GCs prior to installing SP1. ThumbnailPhoto Attrbute for OAB is showing as value. I am seeing references that the mAPIID for the thumbnailPhoto Attribute should be 35998. Where would I confirm that the ThumbnailPhoto attribute is replicating and has the correct mAPIID? Do I need to adprep /forestprep from a Server 2008 R2 disc in order for this to work. The mAPIID value for picture is showing as NotSet Jim Managan Lead Systems Administrator

According to some sources you must also do schemaprep for Win 2008 R2 DC's. From the Exchange Team Blog (Bharat Suneja): Q. What are Active Directory requirements? Do I need Windows 2008 R2? A. Windows 2008 R2 is not required. In fact, the thumbnailPhoto attribute has been around since Windows 2000. - However, the mAPIID attribute should have the value 35998. This happens when domain controllers are running Windows 2008 or later, or if your Active Directory schema has been updated to Windows 2008. If not, you can run adprep /forestprep from Windows 2008 to update the schema. Windows 2008 R2 / SP1 with Exchange 2010 SP1 / RU4 ... ? Displaying GAL photos ... ? Where does the value 35998 come from? MCTS: Messaging | MCSE: S+M

We are having the same issue with the GAL, however pictures are showing in the preview pane of Outlook 2010. From my understanding nothing special needs done to Outlook to make the pictures appear in the GAL. Is that correct? Running Exchange 2010 SP1 Windows 2008 Domain
