Thanks. For some reason my Exchange Server is tooooo slow. It's virtuallized, and other VMs in the same host aren't slow. It has 9 GBs of RAM and 4 VPs. The installation of the SP3 finished 24 hrs. later. And at the end of the installation, the Transport service couldn't start. The partial solution was to modify the timeout that windows uses (30 secs) to finish the start control of the service if this doesn't start. The new timeout it's now 60 secs. What else is on the server? The only time I have seen performance issues is when there is third party interference. The fact that you are seeing issues with transport would tend to indicate AV, Antispam, something like that. Also, with Exchange, RAM and processor is a very small part of the performance of the server. The main place where issues occur is in storage. Only Exchange Server and an AV (Kaspersky 6.0.4.1217, I disabled it but there's no difference). We have a server HP Proliant DL380 G5 with 4 HDD SAS 10k in RAID 5. In top of that we have 5 VMs (only 2 in production). I'm going to monitorize the Exchange VM with resource monitor, or what do you recommend to me?

A single RAID 5 is about the slowest option you could have. RAID 5 is slow anyway, but with Exchange being a high transactional database which writes to two locations almost simultaneously, plus another machine on top, you are are going to struggle for performance. Ideally you would have two and preferably three arrays on the system, one for the OS, one for the logs and one for the database. Having the system in a VM doesn't remove you from the storage issues. Although saying that I still wouldn't expect the upgrade to take as long as you reported. Exchange has a performance troubleshooter built in. It is in the toolbox in Exchange Management Console. I will try to move at least the Logs to a LUN in the SAN (it's iSCSI :() too see how it behaves.

My Exchange Server it's on SBS 2008 Finally it is finished with no error after 12 hours. everything is working fine, there was a minor issue exchange store service, it was stuck up with starting I just restarted and worked fine.
