The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete.
Mixed Exchange 2003 & 2010 environment using Outlook 2007 SP2 in cached mode. We have the following situation: A user has a mailbox on the Exchange 2003 server and shares access to folders and calendar. Permitted users can access the shared resources fine. The mailbox is then migrated to Exchange 2010. The users on the Exchange 2003 server can no longer access the resources of the migrated account. Users that were migrated to Exchange 2010 can no longer access anything shared by a user on the Exchange 2003 server either. Any thoughts no what may be causing this? Regards, Rob

Hi, I cannot understand the problem well. Do you mean that the users on Exchange 2003 server cannot access the shared information from the migrated account? At this stage, I suggest you manually remove the permission on the migrated account and re-assign the permission to check the result. Meanwhile, please check whether the user on Exchange 2010 server can access the migrated account’ shared information. If there is any error message in Event log, please post it here for research. Sorry if I wasnt clear in my description of the issue. Prior to migration, the users can access each others shared calendar. Once one of the mailboxes is migrated to Exchange 2010, neither user can access each others calendar. When they attempt to access the calendar following the move to 2010, the "The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete." error message appears. I will attempt to repermission the migrated account to see if that resolves the issue. If it does not, I will check the event log for related events and post the results. Thanks.Regards, Rob

Thank you for your clear reply. Please take some time to reset the permissions to check the result. If there is any update, please feel free to let me know. Reapplying the permissions after migration allowed this to work. The issue now is having to reapply permissions to all of the mailboxes as they are migrated. I dont think having to reassign permissions for thousands of mailboxes is exactly practical and i dont see a way to automate the process. Thanks, RobRegards, Rob
