I have an exchange 2003 SP2 server and have about 200 mailboxes. Starting a couple of days i ran into this issue. I tried logging into this computer with my username and I still got the same erro message. I thought it was the laptop so I went to another laptop and tried again and got the same error message. I checked the DC and exchange server and see nothing as in errors. I have given the user webmail for now. I have tired to run newsid since we do close laptops. I tried making sure the registry entries are there in rpc and they work fine. I have rebooted the dc and exchagne server. Still nothing I can ping both exchange servers using both name or IP I have tried servername and ip. Different accounts different computers same result. I tried a fresh machine recently imaged with no profiles setup. Created a new user with an exchange account and tried to add it to the outlook same result. I ran the Exchange best practises tool. I see several issues suach as dc response time, Paging file larger than physical memory, missing fqdn in service principal name. I have changed the page to let sym manage it, I have manually entered the serivice principal name and then rebooted the server. Then I went to the client same result. I created a new setup XP SP2 and installed office 2003 and I still get the same issue. any ideas?

Have you checked your switch hardware for any errors or issues? Have you run DCDIAG and NETDIAG? Since this started a just couple days has anything changed in your network?MVP Exchange Server

Hi, Would you please let me know when the issue occurs? Check Name when creating Outlook Profile or log in Outlook after creating profile? If the issue occurs when log in Outlook, please let me know whether the same user is able to access his mailbox by using OWA? If the issue occurs when checking name when creating Outlook Profile, please let me know if type GC server name instead Exchange Server name when creating Profile, whether the same issue occurs? In addition, please let me know how Outlook Connects to Exchange Server, Rpc or RPC over HTTPs? Please also review Application Log on Exchange Server to check whether any 9646 error is encountered? Mike

Hi, Any further updates regarding the issue?I would like to share some information to troubleshot the issue:If the issue occurs when creating Outlook Profile when checking name, I would like to explain the check name process:By default, if you enter the Mailbox Server name, the Outlook will attempt to contact the DSProxy component on the mailbox server. The DSProxy will refer the Outlook to contact a GC. Then, the Outlook Client will contact GC to check name. Therefore, I recommend you type the GC server name directly to check name. If it is able to resolve the issue, I believe the issue occurs when Outlook connects to Mailbox Server. If the issue still persists when tyep GC server name instead mailbox server, I believe the issue occurs when Outlook connects to GC to check nameIf the issue occurs when logon mailbox after creating profile, I think the issue occurs when OUtlook Connects to Information Store service on the mailbox server. To troubleshoot the connection issue, you can refer to following articles:How to troubleshoot connectivity issues that are caused by RPC client protocol registry entries http://support.microsoft.com/kb/325930/en-usMike
