The Exchange server address list service failed to respond. This could be because of an address list or email address policy configuration error.
I keep getting an error with the 'address list service' when admins create new mailboxes they get an error that the service is unavailable. After a few retries it works. The most common thread I've seen is to restart the System Attendant but that hasn't helped. I did Address list separation and I'm wondering if permissions to the GAL is screwed in some way, but why would it work half the time. I've also evaluated our Recipient policies and they appear fine. Does anyone have experience with fixing the error with the 'address list service'?

I have been able to resolved this issue. I had been banging my head on my desk for three months until I finally found the right article. http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dgoldman/archive/2007/11/16/creating-a-new-mailbox-in-exchange-2007-with-the-new-mailbox-cmdlet-fails-with-address-list-service-not-available.aspx In my case I deleted the Public Folder Address list. Since I replaced it the issues have stopped. I'm hoping this will be found by others who are having the same problem. Every article I went through kept mentioning restarting the SA, but that never worked for me. David Jenkins
