The Active Directory lookup for the sender address returned validation errors.
I am having a problem I hope someone can answer. I am getting this error in EventViewer: Event Type:ErrorEvent Source:MSExchangeTransportEvent Category:SmtpReceive Event ID:1025Date:2/25/2008Time:11:44:36 PMUser:N/AComputer:ADSMREX003Description:SMTP rejected a (P1) mail from 'ADSMR-1212@tphrtech.com' with 'Default ADSMREX003' connector and the user authenticated as 'NETWORK\AMU9999'. The Active Directory lookup for the sender address returned validation errors. Microsoft.Exchange.Data.ProviderError For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. Now, I know what this is. Every machine in our enterprise is setup to send an alert via SMTP authenticating as AMU9999 to our IT support email address. How can I keep this enabled? I've scoured the forums and don't see anything regarding AD validation. Any help would be appreciated! Jonathan Merrill MCP, CCA, NET+ www.gomerrill.com

Hi Jonathan Isthe address ADSMR-1212@tphrtech.comone that is valid within your Exchange Organization, ie. does it resolve to a mail-enabledor mailbox-enabled account? I had a similar issue with multifunction printer devices configured to send emails via Exchange 2007 - while an AD account was setup for the authentication to theExchange connector, the account was not mail enabled. The MFPshad a dummy email address entered in the "From" field. What happened was that after authentication, theExchange Server attempts to validate the sender email address to the AD account, but since the account is not valid, it rejected the SMTP request. To solve this, I simply added the dummy email address as a "Mail Contact" for the AD account, and Exchange was happy. Unfortunately, searchingon that Event ID 1025 error string doesn't turn up much information to indicate this problem and resolution. Hope this helps.
