System Volume Information - how do I disable so I can delete restore points that have taken up all my OS (C:) drive space please?
I am running MS Exchange Server 2003 and have a "Low Disk Space" message coming up and I can no longer receive any incoming emails (or access MS Outlook from a networked computer. My server c drive has been split and it is the OS (C:) drive that only has 35-100MB free (it constantly varies for some reason?). Looking at it it seems as though the System Restore Folder and process takes up 10GB in the "catalog.wci" folder. I have tried deleting files in here but it says I cannot because they are in use ??? I have paused SQL Server Service Manager (BKCUPEXEC - I run Symantec's Backup Exec product); Can you help urgently please !!? Thanks Stephen

This seems to be more of a OS issue than Exch. Can you do a search for all file over 4MB and see what can be removed? Usual things are like temp file/check event logs sizes, IIS Logs, MT logs, Where is Exch installed?Sukh

Stephen, Catalog.wci directory is created on your Web server during the installation of Microsoft Index Server. You can usually find the catalog directory under the InetPub directory on the drive where you installed IIS. The function of the Index Server is to provide a method for clients to search your Internet server content. This isn't part of your exchange installation or needed for OWA in a default install. Do you have any other websites on this server? If not you could move them somewhere else and after a backup remove the index server. There is an Index Server Administration page that lets you control and monitor the Index Server. You can open the Index Administration Tool by typing your IP address followed by /iisadmin/isadmin/admin.htm in IE. http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=1456774 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/209304 Thanks
