Subdomain emails with parent domain
Before redoing our other mail server, I have a question of if this is possible or not. Currently we have a exchange 2010 server for our primary email users, which are teachers. There email addresses are school.org. Then we have an apache email server that creates email address for students as student.school.org. All teachers and students are all under the one domain in AD of school.org when they log on to their computers. (i.e. school\username - for both teachers and students) Is there a way to create the student.school.org email in the exchange server along side of the school.org email addresses and keep the users under the school.org domain. Let me know if you need more info. Thanks!

Mike, How then would the students sign in on OWA? Would it be just like the teachers when they sign in on OWA? school\username? Also, would Outlook do the automatic setup for them just like when a teacher opens Outlook? Thanks! Ryan

Hi, Yes that would work Add the smtp domain into accepted domains and setup email address policy and give the users a mailbox with the proper configured mailaddress Then they can logon using school\username or upn@domain Jonas Andersson | Microsoft Community Contributor Award 2011 | MCITP: EMA 2007/2010 | Blog: http://www.testlabs.se/blog | Follow me on twitter: jonand82

Hi, Configure Accepted Domain with Email Address Policy for student.school.org etc... As well you need to configure MX Pointer in Public Dns for student.school.org ( If you are not using address rewriting Policy)Regards Sushantgharpure
