Stripping Exchange 2003 features
Hi, I have been give the task of removing the "extra" features of Exchange Serverfrom an already installed and functional system for reasons of resource conservation. TheWindows Server 2003 & Exchange 2003 SP2system was not installed by me. The system we are aiming for consists of POP3, SMTP and a basicHTTP Web interface for reading and sending mail only. We are wanting to remove Public Folders, Calender, Notes, Diary, Contacts... basicly anything non-mail related. Under protocols there is no mention ofMAPI so I'm lead to believe that these features will not be available through an outlook client but the OWA interface still gives users access to these features. Is it a matter of editing the webpages of OWA directly, changing permissions, reformatting/reinstallingor is there a MMC plugin optionthat I have not found yet? I have been finding my way around Exchange with the help of online resources such as this forum (thanks to all, btw)but I have not found much relating to this situation. Any advice/hints/ideas will be greatly appreciated.

You can limit the who can access Public Folders, essentially making them not available for use. You can use OWA segmentation to achive most of everything else, but it doesn't remove the functionality, just hides it. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/833340
