The store.exe process on my SBS2003 server starts out at under 75 megs or so but after Backup exec 11 is run it goes up to just shy of 700 megs of activly used memory and emails are slow on delivery and it appears to be affecting the POP3 connector as well. the backup's finish at 6am and the service is no longer running to affect exchange and yet the memory usage does not decrease. Anyone know of a good fix for teh memory leak this seems to be causing?

Hi, This does sound normal (store using 700 or more MB). Exchange server is programmed in such a way that it uses as much memory as needed - it should however release memory if other applications requests some. The above is one of the reasons why it is recommended to install exchange server on a member server that is doing nothing else. Leif

Hmm, I have worked as an IT admin for a few companies, some as large as 200+ employes, this company I am at now only has 20 employes. So the load on the exchange server should be minimal, plus we do blast emails from a completely different system. I would have loved ot have exchange on a different server, but i came into this roll as their 4th IT admin and the back end of their set up is a mess. Example: this 4 year old SBS server has 3 gigs of ram, 2 middle of the line xeon's, 4 different running sql installs, AD, exchange, WSUS, backup exec, file server, print server, the list sadly goes on. I am trying ot convince them tehy need a new primary server and at least 2 other servers for offloading and seperating out tasks to have a role based environment. c'est la vi.
