Stoping Exchange Server clients (Outlook) from granting permissions to folders and calendars
We would like to disable Outlook usersgranting permissions on their folders and calendars. We want to control this froman administrator account on theExchange server. Can this be accomplished bydenying "Modify Permissions" on the "Self account" for all mailboxes?

could work .. never tried that :) sadly enough there are no GPO settings that allow us to deny this by UI. would defiantly be nice if you report success.MCSA Messaging

Chewey,As already stated that does not seem to be a possible configuration though you can remove the "Write Personal Information" permissions from each user account you want to deny access to delegating folders using ADUC. You can remove the "Write Personal Information" for the user account itself.MMilind Naphade | MCTS:M | http://www.msexchangegeek.com

Hi,To prevent users from changing the permissions settings on the mailbox folder and calendar, we need to add the key in the registry:For Outlook 2003:1, Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.2, Locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Options\Folders3, On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.4, Type DisableEditPermissions, and then press ENTER.5, Right-click DisableEditPermissions, and then click Modify.6, In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.7, Exit Registry Editor. For Outlook 2007, that is HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Options\FoldersAfter that, please check the result. If you want to deploy for all mailboxes, we need to use Group Policy to deploy the key on the clients. For more information, please view the below KB article:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948894ThanksAllen

Thanks for all the responses. Unfortunately the majority of our users are using Outlook 2000. I have seen that KB article and it does not apply to 2000. We will apply this fix to our 2003 users. Is there a similar fix for Outlook 2000? Thanks again.

Hi, I think it should try my previously posted solution for one user and wait till the replication among your domain controllers completes. I am unsure if the manual modifications in registry will work for outlook 2000.Milind Naphade | MCTS:M | http://www.msexchangegeek.com

Chewey, As there is a hotfix prerequisite for the registry setting - outlook 2000 won't work. and if i might add that it's quite recommended that you should upgrade to office 2003 at least..MCSA Messaging
