Stop Pivot Table Updating

Can someone tell me how to stop a Pivot table from refreshing until I'm finished selecting items in a Slicer?

I have to select a heap of items in the slicer by holding down ctrl and it's recalculating the pivot as I select each one. How do I get it to stop until I tell it to update?

Note, I've tried disabling Calculation but it appears to have no effect.

I've also tried using the "Defer Layout Update" check box in the Pivot fields pane, but I find I can't select anything in the slicer.

Thanks

Gordon

This is exactly same issue I am facing. I have a work book with more than 50 pivot tables, and controlled by dozens of slicers. When I click on one slicer to make a selection, all pivot tables auto-calculates and it takes a long time.

I want to find a way to prevent slicers updating all the pivot tables until told to do so (by VBA of course), so I can make multiple slicer selections and update all the pivot tables in one go.

Please help! Thanks!

I have the same query. To date I haven't found any solution. Seems like a lot of people are now asking the same question, but no real solutions as being provided.
