Sorting with a rule possible?

Hi There,

I have a query.

I want to sort rows in Excel from A-Z top to bottom, but where it comes to entries with the same name it keeps those rows in the same order they are in in relation to each other. So rows with the same name in the first column would not be moved above or below each other.

Does this make sense and is this possible?

As far as I'm aware it already does that. If you have a table sorted on one column and then sort on a different one, the order of items with the same value for the second sort key will remain in the same order.

It's called a "stable" sort.

Thanks. The spreadsheet I was looking at was particularly long so hence I didn't notice that it was double mixed.
