Some users cant authenicate..
Hi, I have a few users that I cant get authenicated when I telnet into my exchange server, my account will authenicate fine but other users in my group cant, I am at a loss on what is going on. I tried using the credentials of other users with the same access level and can get them signed on fine. The users who cant authenicate thru telnet can access the network fine, OWA, and exchange thru Outlook. The reason I am troubleshooting is to get them connected theu pop3 for the ipads. I keep getting bad password error while telneting. It accespts their username ok. Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Brandon

Hi TattooITguy, For this issue, you can enable POP3 logging in Exchange Server to see what the problem is. This is the way how to activate protocol logging for POP3 in Exchange Server: 1. If you use Exchange Server 2003, Please follow these steps to enable logging for the pop3 protocol: a. Start Registry Editor(Regedt32.exe). b. Locate the POP3 Protocol Log Level value under the following key in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Pop3svc\Parameters (Note The preceding registry key is one path; it has been wrapped for readability.) c. On the Edit menu, click DWORD, type: 5, and then click OK. d. Quit Registry Editor. (Note The value for POP3 Protocol Log Level can be from zero (0) through 5: Zero (0) is no logging and 5 is maximum logging. You can also modify the POP3 Protocol Log Path value to specify a different path for the log files.) 2. If you use Exchange Server 2007, please try this way to enable protocol logging for POP3: a. To enable protocol logging for POP3, open the following file in Notepad: C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\ClientAccess\PopImap\ Microsoft.Exchange.Pop3.exe.config. b. Change the following line in the <appSettings> section from: <addkey="ProtocolLog" value="false" /> To: <addkey="ProtocolLog" value="true" /> Please follow these steps to enable the POP3 logging in Exchange Server and show me the result, with the result in logs , we can troubleshoot the problem more accurately. Thank you, Tyler
