Some users cannot reach my Exchange 2003 server
They receive always following error message : TLS connection to x.x.x.x died: error:1408F10B:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_RECORD:wrong version number (MXes tried: x.x.x.x said 553 for RCPT TO response.) I'm not going to try again; this message has been in the queue too long. Is there something wrong on my side ?

You could have a look at your SMTP protocol log and see if you're sending a 553 response to the RCPT TO command. A 553 is a permanent error. The "too long" in the diagnostic is bogus. The failure should have been immediate. The error 1408F10B may be irrelevant. It's from the sender's side and it may be due to the certificate used by your server being SSLV2 and the sender wantoing to use SSLV3. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

Hi Xadec, Do you mean some external email could not send email to your exchange server? Please check the public ip whether is in the blacklist. Then you could 1. test your exchange server healthy through BPA. 2. test the smtp connection from the internet through the smtp command. Regards! gavin
