Some users cannot access OWA 2007 premium
We have a single exchange server organization that recently migrated from exchange 2003 (exchange 2k3 server has been removed from the organization). Most users have no issue with owa, but a few users cannot access owa premium. No matter which computer and browser they use it puts them into the owa basic client. It is definitely not the browser since this has been tested on multiple computers with IE7 and IE8 and vista and xp. All of the users were migrated roughly at the same time without any issues. Users experiencing this issue primarily use outlook 2007 SP2 as their client. Here is some of the steps I havetried-using the set-CASmailbox -OWAPremiumclientenabled:$true command for users affected.-tried disabling owa for those users and then reenabling it.- tried moving them to a different storage group.Any suggestions?

No errors. It has nothing to do with not being able to use owa. A few specific users only get directed to the basic OWA client whereas most users can use the premium client. As I noted they get the basic web client no matter which browser and/or computer they use. I have no clue why these few users are affected.

Can you check the IIS logs for the OWA site and see how the browser is identifying itself to the server? Is it possible the clients are going through a proxy server that is stripping the browser type from the HTTP request?Jim McBee - Blog - http://mostlyexchange.blogspot.com

I am almost certain it is not the browser. I tested it with the affected user on the samecomputer, same browser - when I login I get the premium owa, when he logs in he gets the basic page. This was done on more than 1 computer and each time the same result. Less than 5% of our users have this issue.

Hi, 1. Please try to stop the reminder & notification from OWA segmentation. 2. Please try to figure out if these users in the same database. if yes, please try to move them to another database and then check the issue again. 3. Please login OWA and then check if we have "'Use the blind and low vision experience" checked under Options->General Settings->Accessibility. If yes, then please un-tick it. We have tested this problem both internally and externally and we have no filtering internally. I have set the log level to high in case it turns up anything.

We have tested this problem on multiple computers - both domain and stand alone. I think it has to be related to the user mailbox somehow.

Step 3 was the problem. Not really sure how this setting was checked for these users, but I am glad it was a simple solution. Thanks for the help.

Hi, Some times when you migrate mailbox from Exchange 2003 to Exchagne 2007, mailbox will still remain as legacy mailbox. Need to use powershell to change from legacy mailbox. Set-Mailbox -id <Username> -ApplyMandatoryProperties http://smtpport25.wordpress.com/2009/05/07/converting-legacy-mailbox-to-user-mailbox-in-exchange-2007/ This worked from me. Hope it helps you Regards, Krishna http://smtpport25.wordpress.com

That is very weird, indeed. Try purging all of the user's cookies.Jim McBee - Blog - http://mostlyexchange.blogspot.com

I just experienced the same problem with users not being able to login to OWA Premium. "Use the blind and low vision experience" box was checked. Unchecking it allows the user to login to OWA Premium. Thanks!Kind Regards,Josiah
