Some external mail not being delivered to recipient.
Hello, I have a user who is trying to send mail to an external recipient, but the external recipient is not receiving the email. When I try to send to the external recipient, I get the same result. There are no error messages or NDRs. I have tried sending from my hotmail account and the external recipient received it. I tried used my OWA, and the external recipientreceived it. Does anyone have a clue what I should be looking for? The external recipient uses Outless Express. Thanks, Lina

Maybe the email ended up in the recipient's junk mail folder. Otherwise I'd try to telnet to the recipients smtp server on port 25 and try to send an email "manually" by issuing smtp commands.

The recipient is using Outlook Express and we are using Microsoft Outlook 2003.

Issue description: Per your description, If sender sends mail by POP3 client, recipient will not receive mail, but OWA is OK; Troubleshooting: 1. External recipient received it means anti-spams gateway of external recipient allows to pass for local domain; So, I will consider SMTP authentication way and configuration of POP3s client; could you provide more info as the following question: (1) which edition of exchange server are you running in your environment? (2) please post SMTPs authentication way to forum? (3) please post configuration of POP3client to forum? 2. but, as lina said:"There are no error messages or NDRs. " could you provide "delay notificaiton" configuraiton? perhaps, you need to wait; if you have received "NDR", please provide NDR info and post it forum; in addition: how to configure POP3 for exchange server 2k7 http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996347(EXCHG.80).aspx how to manage receive connector http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996395(EXCHG.80).aspx hope it helps -jack

Hi Lina, 1. Please let me know whether your Outlook is configured using POP3 account or Exchange account. 2. Please check Message Tracking log on your Exchange Server. Whether the message is received from your Client? If the message is received, please also check whether the message is delivered to remote SMTP server. 3. Whether the message can also be reproduced if you send the email by usingOutlook. Mike

Hi, Thanks for your replies. The client had a rule setup that sent mail to her junk folder and she was not checking that folder. Once she cleared the rule, she started receiving the email sent from our domain. Sigh.
