Some e-mail messages are not being delivered to external mail server
Do you get an NDR? Wait for one, I assume it will arrive soon. Can you send to the same recipient using say hotmail? It seems like from what you've said the message has left your Org. Send an email with a delivery receipt and see what happens. Ask the sender to check with their email admin to see if you're being blocked Send to someone else at the recipeints domain, and check. Please check the TempTable by referring following KB article: How to use the Mfcmapi.exe utility to view and work with messages in the SMTP TempTables in Exchange 2000 Server and in Exchange Server 2003 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/906557/en-us If the issue still persists, please also check whether the following hotfix has been installed: E-mail senders do not receive an indication that some messages have been held by Exchange Server 2003 until the SMTP service, the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service, or the Exchange server is restarted http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950757/en-usTerence Yu TechNet Community Support

Hello We experience another strange problem with our Exchange 2003. Some e-mails send from our domain to an external mail address just are not being delivered to the external mailserver. I used the message tracker to find out what is going wrong, and there I read "Message transferred to through SMTP", but no external mail server is stated there. I thought maybe it could be our DNS-forwarder who could not resolve the external mail address, so I changed the DNS forwarders to the OpenDNS servers, but no difference. I hope somebody can give me a clue of where to search for a solution? Thank you very much. Kind regards Geoffrey :)

Please check that your IP/domain is not blacklisted. Is there a consistent pattern with the recipients? Can you send to yahoo/gmail e-mail account but not certain ones? If so, the recipients mail server is blocking it for some reason. Call the recipients ISP and get some information.
