Solver changes to Chinese language after MS updates run

We are running office 2013 and the solver add-in for Excel changes from English to Chinese after the Office updates are run.

Office 2013 has been installed as part of an SCCM task sequence and after the task sequence completes Solver works fine and has done for a while. However we recently discovered that after Office updates are run (which are being pushed out via SCCM to our 2000+ managed workstations) the Excel update has changed Solver so that it appears in Chinese.

I have read that you can run an office repair on an affected PC and this will cure it, which indeed it does, but it is impractical for us to run a repair on over 2000 PC's after each Excel update.

Does anyone have an idea how we can get around this issue - without removing the language packs?

Thanks very much.

Hi,

This is a known issue, Excel Add-Ins will always appear in the language that was installed last.
For example, if the last installed language is Chinese and Office interface is English, and then Excel has a English UI, but Exceladd-ins language is Chinese. The add-ins language does not switch if the user changes the Office UI language.

Please try the method:

Running the following commands

MsiExec.exe /fm {90140000-0016-0409-0000-0000000FF1CE}

MsiExec.exe /fa {90140000-0016-0409-0000-0000000FF1CE}

Hi George

Thanks very much for your response, the commands you gave worked perfectly, once I substituted a 5 for the 4 in both lines. i.e.

MsiExec.exe /fm {90150000-0016-0409-0000-0000000FF1CE}

MsiExec.exe /fa {90150000-0016-0409-0000-0000000FF1CE}

Thanks again
