Small Business Server 2003 - trouble sending e-mail with Exchange Server
Exchange server has worked flawlessly for a year and now I am getting e-mail failures with tracking messages that say
The tracking database on xxx.com is not available or the message has left the Exchange organization. Facility: Microsoft Exchange Management ID no: c1032751 Microsoft Exchange Management. It is taking about 48 hours for the messages to
time out. Some messages go through, but there doesn't appear to be any consistency on which messages fail. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks.

Message tracking would have nothing to do with the message flow.
The error message you have posted is often what is returned when you look at the last step in the message tracking flow.
If messages are hanging around, they should be in the queues. You need to post what the error is on one of these messages in the queue viewer. Do you send email directly or through a smart host?

The messages are left in the queue; however the only information there is "the connection was dropped by the remote host." I am not able to find any error messages.

That message means what it says. You need to verify if you are sending email through a smart host. If you are, then the smart host is rejecting the email.

Our email does go out through a smart host and I am looking into that. Thanks for your help. I'll post again when I learn more.Lisa Zanish
