Slow logons to Outlook
Greetings Today, users on one of our Exchange 2007 A/A/P SCC cluster nodes were having serious delays opening Outlook 2007 clients. We failed over the Exchange virtual server to the passive node, but I'm worried this may occur again, and we can't keep failing over. Does anyone know what we can do to troubleshoot this issue? Also, does anyone know that whether a DC is contacted when someone opens Outlook? We could extend our investigations to DC's if this was the case.

Check the event Viewer for any errors , Check for any errors related to outllook connectivity. As the failing over the SCC resolved the issue for the events on the now passive node. Yes a DC is required by outllook for authentication , referral etc . Was OWA affected ?

Thanks, I didn't check OWA to be honest. Do you know what sort of troubleshooting tools I can run on an E2007 server to ascertain the cause? Can you advise what Perfmon counters I should be looking at?

Hi If you have deployed SCOM/MOM that's a nice way to troubleshoot Did it work well after you failed over to the other node? How are they sized? Give us more info about the environmentJonas Andersson MCTS: Microsoft Exchange Server 2007/2010 | MCITP: EMA 2007/2010 | MCSE/MCSA Blog: http://www.testlabs.se/blog
