Simple Display Name E2k3 requires restart store
We want to use the Simple Display Name field in AD/Exchange to change the display name for external email recipients (Exchange 2003 SP2).Applied the registry change (KB888416) and restarted Exchange. Populated some Simple Display Name fields, but the display name is not changed at receivers end. However, when I restart the Exchange store, Simple Display Name is correctly shown when sent to external email address. Not very conveniant to restart the Exchange store every time Simple Display Name is changed/added to a user. Is there a fix / workaround for this issue ?RgdsAlex

How log did you wait after changing simple display name? It may take upto couple of hours to refresh the Cache of Information Store service.Amit Tank | MVP - Exchange | MCITP:EMA MCSA:M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com

You're right. Patience is gold... Just to be complete on this issue: I've changed Simple Display Name of an account 12 hours ago, this morning I sent an email but the Simple Display name was still the old one (Outlook 2007 of that account was still open, cached exchange mode is not used). After restarting Outlook the new Simple Display name was used.Is there a way to force a refresh of the cache of IS without restarting the service ?Thanks already!

Cool!!Yeh there are registry keys which can be set to change the Mailbox cache age limit. Refer below KB article. However you need to do someexperimen to set it with, otherwise it may hit the performance of server. And you may still need to restart the outlook after decreasing the time limit for IS cahce. Exchange 2000 and Exchange 2003 mailbox size limits are not enforced in a reasonable period of time; fix requires Exchange 2000 SP3 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/327378/Amit Tank | MVP - Exchange | MCITP:EMA MCSA:M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com

Hi,i dont know your environment, but changing the value of the cache can increase the load on the GC-Servers. So test it carefully.Viele Gre Walter Steinsdorfer MVP Exchange Server http://msmvps.org/blogs/wstein
