Signature settings do not transfer over after 2013 office upgrade

Hello

I noticed that when I upgrade from office 2010 to 2013 with custom MSP package - the signature settings do not stay....

I'm trying to make this as seamless as possible for the end users.

Now, the signature file IS there and they can add it - but for some reason the sig file is not loaded by default for "new mail"

Funny thing is, when I uninstall 13, and reinstall 10 - the setting is back and clicking new mail auto adds my signature

what the heck...:(

Diving into this further - I did not use my custom MSP and used the default installer - same thing - the signature file is there, and is accessible, but it did not keep the "apply sig to new email" setting

I wanted to rule out the MSP

Hi,

The signature files for Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013 are saved in this location:

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Signatures

As long as the signature files are available there, the users are able to find the signatures in Outlook.

However, the signature files don't control when to use the signature, for "New messages" or "Replies/forwards". This is actually controlled by the registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\x.0\Common\MailSettings

or

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\x.0\Common\MailSettings

Name: NewSignature
Type: REG_EXPAND_SZ
Value: The name of signature to use for new messages
Name: ReplySignature
Type: REG_EXPAND_SZ
Value: The name of signature to use for reply messages

As each user may use different signature names, it may be hard to manage this for all of them.

I hope it's helpful to you.
