Showing a different value for the Exchange Server FQDN than the actual Server.Domain.com
Have two potential or connected issues here ... on Windows Server 2003 R2 ; Exchange 2007 SP1 Not sure if I am using the right terminology, but here it goes Lost the Exchange Server (bad disk) and have built everything from scratch and mounted the database. Everything was painful, but at the end .... recovered everything, rebuilt the AD, etc. The internal domain name is: zenRx.com on a domain controller which is also houses the Exchange server. Upgrade/leftover from Win 2000 days when the domain controller was "zenRx" ... default settings have added ".com" somehow. The public domain we own is actually "zenRx.org" ... we have nothing to do with zenRx.com, other than the fact that the domain name (internally) is named zenRx.com The problem is that both of the below eMails end up in Hotmail's Junk Mail Folder. Previously, before the death of the server, everything was working fine. The trick was ... somebody from Microsoft support made Exchange (or, DNS thingy) to impersonate the internal mail.zenRx.com machine/domain name to go out as zenRx.org (out to the public world) in eMail messages or reverse dns queries, etc. Can anybody figure out why Hotmail (and others) may decide to JunkFolder the messages; and/or How can you make the messages not to expose zenRx.com but show and resolve everything with zenRx.org Will it be an Exchange setting or a DNS trick? Can you be sort of specific, if possible, regarding how to fix this? Addition: Just looked at MXTools ... here is what I see .... smtp:72.85.245.162 Monitor This smtp 220 mail.zenRx.com Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service ready at Sun, 8 May 2011 19:23:51 -0400 OK - 72.85.245.162 resolves to mail.zenrx.org Warning - Reverse DNS does not match SMTP Banner 0 seconds - Good on Connection time Not an open relay. 6.724 seconds - Warning on Transaction time Session Transcript: HELO please-read-policy.mxtoolbox.com 250 mail.zenRx.com Hello [64.20.227.133] [94 ms] MAIL FROM: <supertool@mxtoolbox.com> 250 2.1.0 Sender OK [78 ms] RCPT TO: <test@example.com> 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay [5694 ms] QUIT 221 2.0.0 Service closing transmission channel [686 ms] One more addition....(name of the machine is: MAIL) Organization Configuration | Hub Transport | Send Connectors | InternetSendConnector | Properties | General Tab | FQDN for HELO/EHLO is zenRx.com Organization Configuration | Hub Transport | E Mail Address Policies | Default Policy | Properties | (Wizard) e-Mail Addresses - SMTP %m@zenRx.org Server Configuration | Hub Transport | Receive Connectors | Default MAIL | Properties | FQDN for HELO/EHLO is mail.zenRx.com +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ X-Message-Delivery: Vj0xLjE7dXM9MDtsPTA7YT0wO0Q9MjtTQ0w9NA== X-Message-Status: n X-SID-PRA: Travis P.
