Sharing a Mailbox on SBS 2003 R2
Good day guys, Im currently running a Server SBS 2003 and have a slight annoyance! Everytime I want to share a mailbox (like a room shared box) or even share a mailbox + calendar from one of the users to the other I have to log in with the users account and share it manually by changing the Share Permissions on the Mailbox + Inbox etc. Is there no way to do this from the Exchange server itself? I did it once by selecting the mailbox I wanted to share and went to AD, Exchange Advanced and then selected Mailbox Rights and added the users that should have access to that ACL and it worked. But now everytime I need to share any of this I got to do it the long manual way. Adding the mailbox works perfectly under Account Settings, Additional Mailboxes. But when trying to select the Mailbox it says "Cannot display the folder. MS Office outlook cannot access the specified folder location". And thats after adding my account to the Mailbox Rights. Am I doing something wrong, if so what can I do/change to make life easy for myself. My exchange knowledge is very limited but get my way aroundMCP, MCSE, MCDST, MCSA, MCT, MCITP:EA, MCITP:CST, A+, N+, CTT+, MCTS, CBP

you can do it from AD, my modifying the mailbox rights grant read mailbox + full mailbox, you should be able to add the additional mailbox with these rights Dhruv

By any chance, is your account a domain admin? by default domain admins and enterprise admins have an explicit deny permission on mailboxes

we are using the mailboxes over exchange and havent tested with OWA, but when I login with the account manually on a system that I want to share the box, it works perfectly. I have triple checked the rights and ensured that its correct. There must be something Im missing though!MCP, MCSE, MCDST, MCSA, MCT, MCITP:EA, MCITP:CST, A+, N+, CTT+, MCTS, CBP

Hi Tim, Did you try to create a new mailbox to test and what's the results? Please download the Exbpa and run a Permission check. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=4F2F1339-CBCD-4D26-9174-F30C10D7EC4C By the way, for SBS issue, sugguest you also go to SBS forum to seek the solution: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/smallbusinessserver/threads Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
