Shared calendar not showing who edits appointments - Exchange 2013 cu9

Hello all,

We've got a calendar shared out from a "shared mailbox" that isn't properly showing who created or edited appointments. When viewing the appointments in list view, the Changed By field is simply the name of the shared mailbox. When each appointment is opened, it also says "last updated" by the name of the mailbox. The only exception to this is for the user who actually did modify the appointment - it will show their own name when they're viewing the appointment they edited.

I enabled auditing on the mailbox, and when I search the audit log in EMS, it correctly shows who last modified the calendar. I've created a new mailbox and calendar for testing, and the problem persists. I've also tried disabling caching of shared mailboxes. Anyone have any insight on this problem? I haven't found much of any use in my research.

As the topic states, we're running Exchange 2013 cu9, and users are all on Outlook 2013.

Thanks in advance!

Are users logging directly into that mailbox?  If it's a true shared mailbox, the account would be

No, it's a "true shared mailbox".

I believe the problem to be that users were delegated Full Control of the shared calendar through Exchange instead of granted permission through properties of the calendar in Outlook.  I have tested this in my environment and it seemed to be the issue

So while that corrected the problem of the Last Modified By: email@address.com.  It broke other functionality they relied on such as having access to the Contacts in Outlook as well as on their phones.   I was trying to add permissions to the contacts through outlook, but it just didnt work right.  I could set their account to open additional mailboxes, but that would not work for phones.  If this was a normal user account and not a shared resource, you may be able to share both contacts and calendar without having full rights permissions delegated, but again that would be a problem for phones.  I have reverted to giving them Full Access so everything automaps, but they then lose the last modified by field and it now defaults to MAILBOX NAME
