Shared address space - part two!
Hi everyone.I had posted last night about how to utilize a shared address space. I got a great answer that pointed to a great technet article:How to Configure Exchange 2007 to Route Messages for a Shared Address Spacehttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb676395.aspxI've followed the guide and set everything up as recommended. To test, I'm sending an email to a member of my organization who's email address is still out on the "hosted" smtp server.Anyway, my email goes out, but returns with the following error: mail3.sea5.speakeasy.net #554 refused mailfrom because return MX does not exist ##Now, I have no other connectors set up at this time. I'm simply trying to test the idea that if the Exchange Server gets an email for a user who's address is still on the hosted side, that mail will flow over to him.I wanted to test this before changing my main MX records, since we will be migrating accounts over 10 at a time until they are all done. However, is this because I don't have any send/recieve connectors? I do know that mail is going out from "myaccount@company.local".Any insight is greatly appreciated and will be rewarded with homemade peanut butter cookies! Right... :-)Thank you!!Mark Mark L.

Yes this looks like, because of ptr record (reverse DNS for MX record) is not added yet for new server hence recipient server is generating this notification mails....Amit Tank | MVP - Exchange | MCITP:EMA MCSA:M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com

Thank you again for your reply! It turns out that this is the answer. What I figured out was that I was sending the original email from "myaccount@mycompany.local" instead of "myaccount@mycompany.com". I quick edit of the default rule set cleared it all up. Thank you for all your help, you have been invaluable to me. Rest assured that if I could bring you homemade cookies, I would. :)Thank again!!Mark Mark L.
