Shared Mailbox hanging in users Outlook Profile - Contacts of Shared Mailbox doesn't show up in the Address Book

Access the shared mailbox via it's own outlook profile, set the contacts for Outlook Address Book and checked the box titled "Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book."

Yet any user who is hanging the mailbox cannot see that Contact group in the Address book.

I know this use to work without problem, but we recently updated to Windows 7, Outlook 2010, Exchange Server 2013.

So far from what I've been reading, this is no long an available option for Outlook 2010?  Or is there a registry setting to change to get this to work.

We have a lot of user who use shared mailbox and use the shared contacts to keep the contacts up to date for all external contacts.  Please say this can just be a registry edit, would hate to have to migrate all of these to public folders, as that's what I've been reading so far is that it's only supported under public folders.

Anyone know if there is a registry change or any way to enable this.  Dang hate it when they remove useful features, so much is gone in Outlook 2010 not liking it so far.  It seems one issue after another.

Thanks

Hi,

Sadly, adding a Contacts folder from another mailbox to your Outlook Address Book is not supported.

I have also done a bunch of tests on my side and searched some articles . I find it is by design that we cannot directly share a contact folder within a shared mailbox

  1. This is correct steps to add shared mailbox .
  2. 1.Click File > Account Settings > Account Settings
  3. 2.On the Email tab, in the list, click the Exchange account type, then click Change and then click More Settings.
  4. 3.On the Advanced tab, under Open these additional mailboxes, click Add, and then enter the shared mailbox name ,then you can add shared mailbox to your user profile.

Personal suggestion,You can search for the address directly in the shared Contacts folder or consider putting these contacts in a Public Folder or SharePoint List you both can access.

Regards,

David

Yes have the mailbox hanging, just like that, but it contact list does show up in the address book.  Shows Global, and users mailbox Contacts, but not showing the Shared Mailbox contacts.  Yes agree please say registry fix, too much work to change them all over to public folders.
