Shading Problem when Word Document converted to a PDF file

Okay, basically I've got a word document with words of the font colour white over a black shaded background. Now when I convert it to a pdf file, the black background is there but the area around the words goes blank making the words unable to be seen. I've already tried the basic troubleshooting solutions such as going to display before saving and checking print background colour etc. I've tried high-lighting and other tricks but still no success. If somebody has a solution, I would love to hear it, thank you. I've also included some screenshots to show what I mean.

Here's how it turns out.

And this is how it's supposed to look. As you can see the words can be visibly seen and are not blanked out. Whilst in the pdf screenshot above they are.

Hi,

How did you create this "black shaded background"? Is it a filled black text box? How did you convert it to a PDF file?

I've created a similar Word file on my end, and saved it as PDF (*.PDF) type directly in Word 2013. It shows well for me when launching it in Adobe Reader.

Could you please open this PDF file with another application and check result? We should first determine whether the issue is on the Adobe Reader side or with that specific file.

If you want, you can share that .PDF file with us by sending it to this email account: ibsofc@microsoft.com, we will also have a test then.
