Setup error: Exchange Server 2007 transition from Exchange 2003, simple Exchange organization
Attempting to install E2K7 with SP1 (standard edition)on Server 2008 (both 64-bit), but am getting "Exchange Server setup encountered and error." (This server is also the AD controller for the domain.)The domain currently hasan Exchange Server 2003 running on a Windows 2003 member server. This error occurs after successfully clearing upsetup's 'Organization's prerequisites', such as stopping SMTP services and adding three IIS components. After seeing this error, I ran setup/prepareAD and setup/prepareSchema, both completed without errors (as far as I oculd tell). Now, each time I run setup from the CD, the ExchangeSetupLog shows:[3/9/2009 10:58:46 AM] [0] **********************************************[3/9/2009 10:58:46 AM] [0] Starting Microsoft Exchange 2007 Setup[3/9/2009 10:58:46 AM] [0] **********************************************[3/9/2009 10:58:46 AM] [0] Setup version: 8.0.685.25.[3/9/2009 10:58:46 AM] [0] Logged on user: BULLSEYEDM0\steve.[3/9/2009 10:58:47 AM] [0] Command Line Parameter Name='mode', Value='Install'.[3/9/2009 10:58:47 AM] [0] Command Line Parameter Name='sourcedir', Value='D:\'.[3/9/2009 10:58:47 AM] [0] Command Line Parameter Name='fromsetup', Value=''.[3/9/2009 10:58:47 AM] [0] ExSetupUI was started with the following command: '-mode:install -sourcedir:D:" /FromSetup'.This event gets logged into the Application Log:The description for Event ID 4999 from source MSExchange Common cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer. If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event. The following information was included with the event: 4704 E12 False the message resource is present but the message is not found in the string/message table The first number (4704 in this instance) changes each time I run setup, some other values are:3332, 4740, 4008, 4584, 4196, etc, etcAny suggestions would be appreciated!
