Setup encountered a problem while validating the state of Active Directory: Could not find information about the local site
Have an existing ex2010 sp3 organization. Could not run ex2013cu1 setup from my newly built 2012 server, getting the error in the subject line. I used the command line to run the AD preparation steps successfully from my 2012 DC/GC, then tried to run setup again from the new 2012 server and still get the same error. The error itself in the log is pretty useless: [05/07/2013 01:19:13.0137] [0] ********************************************** [05/07/2013 01:19:13.0137] [0] Starting Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Cumulative Update 1 Setup [05/07/2013 01:19:13.0137] [0] ********************************************** [05/07/2013 01:19:13.0152] [0] Local time zone: (UTC-08:00) Pacific Time (US & Canada). How many DC/GC you have in your environment? Check the application log on exchange server related to AD events. Where there any changes in IP address? Run ipconfig /flushdns and after that run ipconfig /registerdns Restart the exchange server and try to install the server. Post the update.Gulab Prasad, Exchange Ranger Z-Hire Employee Provisioning App

Hi there, From my experience, the issue might be caused by the NIC configuration if you have two NIC and one of them is Internet facing. If this is the case, please disable the internet connection and try again. Hope it is helpful. Fiona Liao TechNet Community Support

Lots of DCs/GCs, but only two in this particular site. No changes in IP addresses on the DCs/GCs. Multiple reboots and still get the same error on two different potential exchange servers. Rebuilt one from scratch using the 2012 DVD instead of our custom image and get the same issue. One nic per server.

As a reference of exchange 2010. Can you post the same screenshot of your exchange 2013 server, Gulab Prasad, Exchange Ranger Z-Hire Employee Provisioning App

You need to uninstall the server completely from Programs and Features. Once that's done, double check the same location and make sure you don't see ExchangeServer Key here Can you post the event ID 2080 from application log from exchange 2013 server. Start the installation again and post the updateGulab Prasad, Exchange Ranger Z-Hire Employee Provisioning App

Exchange is not installing, so it does not show under Programs and Features at all. If I manually delete this reg key (that only gets created when I try the installation and it fails) it makes no difference. Not seeing event 2080... only 106 and 4027 which both say that The description for Event ID 4027 from source MSExchange ADAccess cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer. If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

I don't mind trying that, but I would like to first get to the bottom of why this is happening and resolve the root issue...

Hi, The cause is clearly described in the log: [05/07/2013 01:20:11.0794] [0] [ERROR] Setup encountered a problem while validating the state of Active Directory: Could not find information about the local site. This can be caused by incorrect configuration of subnets or sites or by replication latency. See the Exchange setup log for more information on this error. [05/07/2013 01:20:11.0794] [0] [ERROR] Could not find information about the local site. This can be caused by incorrect configuration of subnets or sites or by replication latency. I'd suggest you check NIC settings and AD configuration. Hope it is helpful. Fiona Liao TechNet Community Support
