Setup a Default Retention Tag For Exchange to Send All Inbox/Sent/Deleted Items to the Online Archive after 365 days
Setup a Default Retention Tag For Exchange to Send All Inbox/Sent/Deleted Items to the Online Archive after 365 days. I try to set this up, but it only seems to let me do it for "Personal Folders" not default Inbox or Sent or Deleted. I want "Tag Type: Inbox (because I want the Inbox and its sub folders to be affected; but same for the others). Age: 365, Action, Move To Archive (not delete or anything). But when I do this, it says, Error: Unable to execute the task, reason: MOVETOARCHIVE can only be applied to tags of type default ('ALL'), Personal or ReverableItems. Why is this? Thanks.Thomas Murray

Hi Thomas, But when I do this, it says, Error: Unable to execute the task, reason: MOVETOARCHIVE can only be applied to tags of type default ('ALL'), Personal or ReverableItems. This error is because the move to Archive action is available only for DPTs and Personal tags. You can’t create an RPT with the Move to Archive action, you can use DPTs or Personal tags to do as your required. Evan, I'm sorry for the tardy reply, the holidays... Ok, I do understand that. However, what, precisely, would be the simplest way to accomplish, making ALL email items in ALL user mailboxes move to identical Folders in their Online Archive after 365 days? It seems very counter intuitive in the way those things are named to me, but possibly you could clear that up with a couple of quick statements on what to do to accomplish what we'd like? And further, is there a way to move all INBOX items after 365 days, and SENT items after 730, days? The simplest directions to do this I think should be really quick, and would allow me to figure out in reverse how it exactly works. I have to admit to being confused with the naming of the actions/tags... Thanks so much! TomThomas Murray

it's a bug. create the rpt with permanently delete, or one of the other 2 options. once created, edit it and change it to "move to archive." --jake
