Setting up e-mail with activesync in Outlook 2013

Sorry for the x-post I posted in the wrong area ..

I have Outlook 2013 with Windows 8 ...

I use both of my iPhone's to connect to an exchange server obviously via Activesync and at home I use outlook web access to access my e-mails at work ... however my intention is to be able to access them via Outlook instead ...

However, when I try to set-up an account in Outlook 2013 with Activesync I get the following error:

"Log onto Exchange ActiveSync mail server (EAS): The server cannot be found"

However I am using the same mail.xxx.com.au server that I put in my iPhone ... does anyone have any suggestions on what I am doing wrong?

Hi there,

Outlook 2013 doesn't support the ActiveSync connection for connecting to Exchange mailboxes. You need to use Outlook Anywhere, which is a far better experience anyway.

Hey,

1- supposing you have an internal CA, and assigned the correct certificate to autodiscover virtual directories,

and using the correct SAN, your laptop must be joined to your domain, or manual installed the certificate.

2-your have to use RPC with outlook, to connect to exchange 2013 INTERNALLY and EXTERNALLY, by publishing it using reverse proxy, or just open the ports 25,80,443 to your exchange

3- i suggest you create your Outlook Mail profile in the internal network, make sure you have created the correct SRV records for autodiscover in the internal and public DNS

5- make sure you did set your Outlook Anywhere External URL in EAC->Servers>Servers> Edit >

4- if you still have the problem i recommend you to test it using Microsoft remote connectivity analyzer:

Outlook 2013 only support ActiveSync to O365, not to Exchange on Prem. If you really need to use Outlook 2013 with ActiveSync to your onprem Exchange you can do so by publishing the Activesync using a 3:rd Party product like PointSharp Mobile Gateway. Also you could use the built in Windows Mail in Windows 8 as it supports ActiveSync to you onprem Exchange.
