Setting the message limit for OWA users alone
Hi Team we have certain users whose are all working from externaly from our office. They are using the e-mail via OWA on reguralr basis. We are running Ex 2007 currently. we configured the message limit as 2mb in hub transport organisation level. Now the we need configure to increase message size from 2 Mb to 4 MB for OWA users alone. Is there any possibilites to achive this? Thanks in adnvance

Hi, I think its not possible. You can set MaxSendSize and MaxReceiveSize on individual mailbox level, but at the end it is the global setting at Hub level that will hinder the messages. Which means that you can set MaxSendSize and MaxReceiveSize lowe than the global setting, not more than it. This is my understanding, may be some other expert can share other info on it with us. Plz have a look into this article: http://www.msexchange.org/articles-tutorials/exchange-server-2007/management-administration/exchange-2007-message-size-limits.html Regards, Laeeq Qazi|Team Lead(Exchange + Sharepoint + BES + DynamicsCRM) www.HostingController.com

Hi rush2ramki, Because the email would be encoded as other format to transport through the exchange server&outlook client; So, as normal, the size of the email would larger than the attachement size showed in the windows system. And the size increment is different depend on different fomat file. You could get the totalbites when the email trasported from the trackinglog, and then check whether the size beyond the size limits. You could change the size limits larger. If misunderstand your issue, please tell me. Regards! Gavin

Hi rush2ramki, Per my known, it is impossible increase the message size for the special OWA user, because the attachement size limits for the OWA user just limit the operation when the user accach the attachement operation when the size beyond the limits. And then when the email send, the course would still match the ORG message size limits, if the mail size larger than the ORG message size limits, the transport would also be failed. If so, I could configure the message limits larger on ORG level, and Smaller on user mailbox level. Regards! Gavin

Can we list out of all the users from exchnage 2007 who are all connecting their mailbox via OWA? and can we can set the mailbox size restriction individualy? I think exchnage will not consisder the connection, whether it can be either mapi (outlook ) or OWA Please suggest

Hi rush2ramki Sure you are right, exchange would not consider the connection, but you could set the mailbox size restriction individualy, mailbox-> user's mailbox -> properties -> mailflow settings -> message size restrictions Regards! Gavin
