Set Excel 2007 as default than Excel 2013

Hi

Along with Office 2007, I have office 2013 also installed in my computer.

Now I am not able to set excel 2007 as default. I have tried 3 options

1. First by regserver method - "%Program Files (x86)%\microsoft office\office12\excel.exe" /regserver

2. Click Search in the Task bar - Change Default Program - Excel 2007 is not listed there. Only Excel 2013

3. Right click mouse on the file, open with and look for excel. By default I can see Excel 2013 in the prompt screen, even I click Browse, point to the folder where excel 2007 installed, I am not able to open Excel 2007. It is not listing in the screen. When I click ok, It is still coming as 2013.

Any other methods? 3 of us already tried all 3 options. Please let me know. Thanks

Interestingly Access is coming as Access 2007 as default.

AIUI the old regserver trick doesn't work with 2007 and later. Have you tried repair, via Options, Resources, Diagnoze

Run REGEDIT.EXE and navigate to this key:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Excel.Sheet.12\shell\Open\command

Then rename or delete the "command" entry in the right panel.

Finally edit the "(default)" entry to point toward the Excel 2007 folder instead of the 2013 folder.

You may have to do this again from time to time as Excel 2013 seems to reset it to itself.
