Server Reboot Notification
Hi Team, we have few exchnage servers accorss the location. Me and our team sits on the main location. We don't have MOM or SCOM to Monitor the exchange servers to get any type of alerts. Just i want to know , is there any tool or any way to notify to us (our team) if any exchnage server Got Rebooted or Offline..? simple and clear : If the server got reboots, we have to get any type of alerts "saying the server " Server Name" was rebboted.

If the server reboots there will be three "eventlog" entries in the system event log. If the system goes down due to a complete hardware failure there may only be two. If the server is offline, well . . . how do you distinguish between a network prolem and a server problem? Using ping *might* be all you need, but that'll still work even if the entire Win32 subsystem crashes. >simple and clear : If the server got reboots, we have to get any type of alerts "saying the server " Server Name" was rebboted. Then you need something to monitor the systems "vital signs". Check out something simple like "Servers Alive!" to get started. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

Hi, It will work on Exchange 2007 as well, it only uses get-service cmdlet to query the servers. 1. you have to run this on a different server propably from your main site. 2. you can setup a batch file calling the powershell script within that batch file 3. create a schedule task and then put the batch file in the scheduled task. Let me know if you have questions. thanks ThiyaguThiyagu | MCTS/MCITP - Exchange 2007 | MCSE 2003[Messaging] | http://www.myExchangeWorld.com. i havent put that logic in there, it would be just a matter of putting another function in there to report it. if you want here is the steps which you can use to edit the script, you have to code this. 1. ping the server before querying it 2. if ping failes, write that server is down in the report. 3. if ping succeeds, then conitnue wit the script. thanks ThiyaguThiyagu | MCTS/MCITP - Exchange 2007 | MCSE 2003[Messaging] | http://www.myExchangeWorld.com.
