Hes sure. You cannot install Exchange 2010 on Core. See: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996719.aspx for the pre-reqs. When you Googled your answer you probably found: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchange2010/thread/dc2992ab-1a70-4d49-96ab-c2ed20c7632f/ which explains a little more. Its kind of skewed to 2007 but you can see that the constraints didnt change. Your Google search will also have taken you to this: http://www.proexchange.be/blogs/exchange2010/archive/2009/12/09/exchange-2010-on-windows-2008-server-r2-server-core.aspx which is something I love because the author went to massive trouble to try and install it and overcame Sisyphean obstacles to get it done in his lab.
