Server 2003 x64 Exchange 2003 RAM
We have an Exchange 2003 SP2 enviornment on Server 2003 SP2 (32-bit) servers. We're running into performance issues while conducting backups and looking into what can be done to improve the situation until we're able to upgrade to Server 2008 and Exchange 2007 (no 2010 yet...). Will installing Server 2003 x64 and adding more RAM while still using Exchange 2003 SP2 improve server performance or will we still be limited by the /3GB switch?

Hi You are not able to run Exchange 2003 on Windows 2003 x64 since Exchange 2003 need a 32bit platform You can use up to 4GB memory and use the /3GB switch http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Optimize-Exchange-2003-Performance-Part1.html Jonas Andersson MCTS: Microsoft Exchange Server 2007/2010 | MCITP: EMA 2007/2010 | MCSE/MCSA Blog: http://www.testlabs.se/blog

Thanks for the quick reply! Looks like we'll have more reason to push for the transition to happen.
