Sent mail remains in outbox

Hi all,

A user has a functional mailbox added to her personal mailbox. User has all rights on the functional mailbox (including sent as).

When the user sents an Email with the From set to the functional mailbox, the email gets sent and is delivered. But the email appears in her Outbox folder in Outlook (Outbox of her personal mailbox). This happens with all mail sent from the functional mailbox address.

Outlook is 2013
Exchange 2013
Outlook is online
User is working in a Citrix session
User does not have a .ost file (not in the Citrix environment)

Any idea?

Thanks!

Andre

Hi,

This issue may occur when all the following conditions are true:

  • Your Outlook profile is configured in online mode (not cached Exchange mode).
  • You have the DelegateSentItemsStyle registry value set to 1.

As you meet the first condition, I'd like to confirm whether the user have the DelegateSentItemsStyle registry value set to 1 on the client computer. If this is the case, I'm afraid there is no resolution to this problem other than to either switch your profile to cached Exchange mode or set the DelegateSentItemsStyle registry value to zero (0). For detailed information, please see the following KB article:

Hi Steve,

The support article says the following under the symptons:

When you send an email message from a shared mailbox, the sent email message remains in your Outbox until you manually perform a Send/Receive operation.

The issue remains also when you hit the Send/Receive button.
I will however look for this registry setting. But setting this setting to 0 will eventualy cause the sent item to be stored in the send items of the users mailbox, and not in the shared mailbox. Maybe that is better than having it in the outbox though.

Thanks for the update. Do you have the opportunity to switch your profile to cached Exchange mode or set the DelegateSentItemsStyle registry value to zero (0)? In this way, we can confirm if they are the same issue as it described in the KB article.

Please keep me updated.
