Send Connector Troubleshooting
Hi, Task: Forward emails coming into Exchange 2007 server to a non-exchange server at port 8025 1. I have created a send connector with smart host (with No Authentication) and used command Set-SendConnector to change port to 8025 2. I have created a user Test with default email address as test@abc.company.com 3. Then I mentioned this user (Test) in forwarding settings for an existing user (Actual). When I send an email from internet to actual@company.com, I can see from the traces in Exchange Server that this email is successfully forwarded to test@abc.company.com. From here on, the mail should go to Send Connector for domain (abc.company.com) but I do not receive an email at the non-exchange server. Any suggestions what might be missing here? I am a newbie so there is a good chance I might have overlooked something. From the looks of it, there is a chance that the mail is not even being routed to Send Connector at all. What should I do in that case? Any pointers or answers will be much appreciated. Regards

I have tried changing the Address Space of Send Connector from abc.company.com to *. The resultant behavior seems to be that all email addresseswhich Exchange is unable to resolve are being forwarded to this Send Connector now. But the ones belonging to abc.company.com are not being sent forward to this connector. Any ideas how I should fix this? Thanks and regards

On another forum, I was asked to follow these steps: 1. Creat a contact that relates to an accepted address on the non-Exchange box. 2. Setup forwarding on each user, this is found on the user under | Exchange General | Delivery Options 3. Create an SMTP connector with the address space of the TLD for the SAP box, ensure you smarthost the mail to the IP (or FQDN) of the SAP box on your network. 4. Create a new SMTP VS and follow 'How to Change the Outbound TCP Port' at: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/274842/ 5. Ensure this SMTP VS is the bridgehead for your SAP box SMTP connector above, we use a new SMTP VS so we don't break normal SMTP (25) communication for sending and recieving of your current Exchange users. While steps 3-5 are a bit different for Exchange 2007, I believe the 2nd step is causing problem here. If I only create a Contact in AD, I can't see it in the list when I try to select this contact for email forwarding in Exchange 2007. Is there an option to add a contact as forwarding address in Exchange 2007? Regards

Ok, works fine now. As mentioned in thread http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1843461&SiteID=17 , now the contact needs to be created in Exchange and not AD. Regards
