Is there anything special that would be required if you had two DCs in a site and an Exchange 2007 box thats set to use dc1, if dc1 were to die other then modifying the dc that it uses (cant think of term, its early )in the Exchange MMC, are there any things that must be done on dc2 to ensure that it functions like it should. Dc2 in this situation would also have a copy of the GC. Thanks for any help!

If you set Exchange not to use any special DC/GC it will discover them automatically and use all of them in a load balancing fashion one exception is when Exchange is installed on a DC, Exchange will default to use only itself
