Searching Outlook and Indexing Status

Hello;

I am having trouble with my Outlook 2013 search field.  I can no longer search my folders for files I know exist.  I don't get any results, it just continues to search.

I have tried:  'File', 'Search' then 'Indexing Options'.  It never loads and I just get the message "waiting to receive indexing status" and I am unable to click anything in that window, i.e. Advance, Modify, etc.

I have also tried: click in the search field, 'Search Tools' then 'Indexing Status'.  It just says "loading".

For both of the steps mentioned above, I waited 10-15 mins hoping that something would happen, but nothing did.

Should I wait longer, is there something wrong, could it be a virus ?  Please help.

Thank you

Hi,

How large are the Outlook data files you are using? If your Outlook data files are too large, it may take a long time to finish indexing.

Please close Outlook and then go to Control Panel > Indexing Options, check if you can click the Advanced button. If so, click the Advanced button and then click Rebuild button to rebuild your indexing.

If above doesn't help, please check if the "Windows Search Service" is running on your computer. To do this, press Windows key + R to open the Run command, type services.msc and press Enter. Find Windows Search Service and make sure it is set on Automatic and Running. If it's already set correctly, please also try restarting the service and then test the issue again.

Please let me know the result.
