Search Global Address List - user missing!
HelloAny idea why a specific user does not show up in Outlook 2007 when using the standard GAL Search: field...... whilst at the same time it appears using Advanced Find and all fields except Display Name e.g. First name, Last Name, Alias etc? This only happens in Outlook Cached Exchange Mode.I've set the eventloglevel for oal generator to Medium, and regenerated the OAB, but event viewer is turning up nothing! Thanks in advance,IR8

So let’s start with some simple questions and work our way through this problem. 1. So you following something like this blog, http://www.exchangeninjas.com/OfflineAddressBook, to update the OAB and set logging right? 2. Once the OAB generation has completed, which can take some time depending on a couple factors like the speed of your server, number of users, etc, you removed the OAB from the Outlook client and re-downloaded the OAB right? 3. Do you have the user cached in your Outlook client? If so, when you type the user’s name in the To field does the name auto populate? Can you click on the name and see the users account information from the GAL. 4. Another way for an account to be updated to the OAB is making a change on the account like address, zip code, something that is used in the GAL. If you can, go to the account and create some dummy information in the assistant field and try updating the OAB. 5. Last question for now, there is nothing unique about this account, white spaces, special characters, name change, etc.Chris cbfive.com

Sorry - it's an Exchange 2007 clustered setup with 2x MBX, 2x CAS/HT Hi,Same symptom with you. After creating a new user, outlook cannot "Search" it in cached mode, whichever select "Name only" or "More columns", but can search it on "Advanced Find". So I guess it search address on the server directly when you select "Advanced Find",not the local OAB on the client, like the online mode. But could you find the new user in the "Search" field after updating the OAB? It is updated on 5:00am each day by default. If you can find the new user, I think it is OK.Frank Wang
