ScheduleOnlyDuringWorkHours issue
Im having a problem with Set-MailboxCalendarSettings and the "-ScheduleOnlyDuringWorkHours" option. Ive seen the numerous KB articles, etc that say the default is 8am-5pm; however when I enable a resource mailbox and send meeting requests to it outside of these hours, its accepted anyway. The workaround I have discovered is to: 1. Enable the room mailbox in AD 2. Reset the password 3. Login to OWA (or Outlook) 4. Set the time zone settings (first screen) 5. Log out I have seen the option to set the time zone on the OWA virtual directory (IIS), which does remove this prompt when you log into OWA, but this doesnt actually seem to touch the mailbox itself. And since the meeting requests dont traverse the OWA virtual directory settings, the removal of the time zone screen via PowerShell is irrelevant. I also thought maybe I needed to wait a while for magic to occur and activate these values, but over 48+ hours there has been no change. I have many room mailboxes to create and configure, so this workaround is not really a feasible option for me. I also could not find any way to set mailbox working hours from PowerShell which means even if this workaround IS required, I cant automate it. Interestingly this DOES seem to be exposed in Outlook Live, which is running Exchange 2010. What can I do? Hi Mike, I am able to reproduce your issue. Nevertheless, I think that the issue does not relate to the Time Zone settings. Based on my local test, I think that the issue occurs because a hidden message IPM.Configuration.WorkHours is not created unless you logon the mailbox by using OWA. You can check the Hidden message by using MFCMapi. The message is in associated content table of the Calendar folder of the resource room mailbox. Based on current situation, I do not find a method to create the hidden message without using OWA/Outlook to logon the mailbox. If I have any further method, I will update here. Thanks for taking the time to investigate! For our project we are avoiding the topic right now, and have been able to take another path, but it would be nice to get this fixed. I would have to conclude this is a design flaw as you arent supposed to have to loginto room mailboxes. BUT - Just goes to show that literally NOBODY is using that feature! :) Mike Crowley A+, Network+, Security+, MCT, MCSE, MCTS, MCITP: Enterprise Administrator / Messaging AdministratorRead my 2 on the Psychology of a TechNet Forum Thread!

Hi Mike, Sorry for delay in response. I have searched our internal database regarding the issue. Nevertheless, I do not related information regarding the issue. In addition, I have sent the problem to our internal discussion group but not receive valuable response yet. As I am able to reproduce the issue on my lab, I think that it is a default behavior. At this time. I suggest you submit a case regarding the issue to check whether they have any further suggestions. Thanks,Mike
