Hi All,

When saving an 11 MB Excel document as a webpage it takes about 10 mins and it locks up the users pc during the process. Is there a way to compress the Excel document to speed up the convert process. Also the document Excel document has about 15 sheets. Thanks in advance!

Hi Chris,

Could you tell me the system requirements of your computer and the version of your Office?

Did your excel file contain any Macros or formulas?

Did this issue only appear in this 11MB particular file?

Where did you store the excel file, local computer or network?

I suggest you turn off automatic calculation function in Excel.

If your excel file stored in network, I suggest you try to disable Office File Validation, please go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\1X.0\Excel\Options

Look for a DWORD value labeled DisableRobustifiedUNC set to a value of 1. If this is set on your machine, it's recommended you delete this value or set the DWORD value to 0.

Important Follow the steps in this section carefully. Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you modify it, back up the registry for restoration in case problems occur.
Please refer to this article about how to back up and restore the registry in Windows:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/322756?wa=wsignin1.0

Please try this method and check if it works for you.

Any updates please let me know, I'm glad to help and follow up your reply.

Hi Emi,

The system specs of the pc are... Dell Optiplex - Intel i5 @ 3.30 Ghz - 4 GB of RAM.

Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 - 14.0.6029.1000

The 11 MB file in question is the only file that they perform this function on.

The file is stored on the network but I tried copying it to my local C drive and perform the same process and it took just as long.

It does not contain macros or formulas from memory.

I shall try to turn off the automatic calculation function in Excel and I shall report back.

Thanks again for your assistance

Hi Emi,

I spoke to the owner of the excel spreadsheet and they are not willing to provide a copy of the file due to the business sensitive data that is contains. Thanks for your help thus far and if you have any more suggestions of what I can try that would be great. Thanks
